Is this the road to recovery?

Since the beginning of December 2008, I have been taking high potency B12 tablets 5000mcg, had a few increases in Armour, and an increase in Thyroxine. The reason why I did this was in November I was getting very down, depressed maybe, feeling very sorry for myself, as well as increased fatigue and generally feeling crap. So I decided to increase my Armour first going from 3 to 4 grains, first I felt a definite boost in my health.
Next came the B12 tablets, I started taking them, and then the beginning of January I started taking an extra 50mcg of Thyroxine..
End of January, and things seem to be looking up, Im doing alot more, whether its because I have No choice with being a father, or whether the meds are working, somethings working for me!
My wife has even noticed things seem to be happening, asking 'whats come over you' and 'whoa, you seem happy' which if she is saying that means Im doing well. I still have bad days, I think everyone does, but things as of right now are good! I know that tomorrow with me could be the opposite, and I could be moaning that I'm feeling rubbish...So I will take it as it comes, and enjoy the good days, and try and be happy!!
Hope your all well

Ric

you know, we will never ever be 100 percent normal again, but hopefully we have more good days than bad...doesn't mean are bad ones are gone forever, but less frequent is good, right?

I am facing the same battle here in Australia. I have a GP who I thought was a very good Doctor, open minded and that I could trust. I printed out and gave him all the info I had about alternative treatments to just Thyroxine. After reading it all he told me he doesn't really have enough knowledge to treat me and wants me to see an endocrinologist (900kms away as I live in the outback). I've given up trying to feel better, I am now just attempting to push on and live life the best I can.

My little boy Joel was born 22/07/1990. He's almost 19. Congratulations on YOUR Joel. My Joel has Hashimoto's, like his Mom. He's having a rough time right now.

HI Ric, I am going to follow your blog. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism three years ago - it has taken all this time to find what I thought was my best dose of Armour after failing to improve on other med's.

However, I am still feel sluggish, still have less energy than ever before, and I probably have not found the best solution for my disease yet. I also have Celiac Disease, so I need to be very careful about the fillers in medications.

Thanks for having a blog about this! :-)

I was diagnosed with hashimoto and graves in 2000 at that time I was only 17. I weighed 49kg. The doctor gave me radio-active iodene 3 months later I weighed 80kg and I looked like a space frog. Now 9 years later, still don't feel any better I weigh 130kg and still nobody thinks that somewhere someone did something wrong. I tried exercising but I just had the energy, you get the feeling you are going to this and keep it up, but you give up.

Belinda You are not the only one with a doctor that doesnt care. In South Africa there is no thyroid specialist if I truely want to see a doctor that would be able to help me I need to fly to the UK.

Any way, seeing that we all have the same problem some worse and some beter, maybe we should get some advise from each other.

The best advise for energy I have is a diettablet, I know it is not very healthy but it gets you through the day.

Don't know about you guys but if I drink tablets that consist of Iodene I get very sick the same with homeopathic medicine containing iodene.

I don't think there is a lot of doctors in the world that knows quite a lot about the thyroid, but if there are doctors that would like some guiniepigs I would stand first inline.

So study away, I will keep you updated if I found out anything new, if you have any questions post it this blog and we can all do research together, we can become the thyroid experts, cause we live it everyday.

Each individual patient may have different signs and thyroid symptoms. But, before it's too late there is desiccated porcine thyroid capsules that could aid an individuals thyroid hormone deficiency.
